This entry is a day late because where we were last night did not have Wifi.
We started out the morning with the traditional group photo. Everyone was excited, nervous, or both! The day started out quite cold...temps in the 40's, with lots of fog. It only warmed up to 62, and it was after noon when the fog almost burned off.
All day there were never-ending hills. The total climb today was 3,800 feet, the second most climb of the ride. I wonder what the first place will be?
We ended up in Port Townsend where we stayed in old army barracks, a row of houses in what is now a state park. Total miles: 77

Tuesday, Sept 25, 2012 Orientation Day
This is the first official day of the Pacific Coast ride...well, we didn't ride today, but there were a lot of things to do to organize 34 riders.
In the morning Dave and I worked on getting my luggage organized, casting off non-essential things to get to the 50 lb limit. Dave took off for Minnesota, and I got to know my roomie for the night. Theresa is from Vadness Heights, MN!
There were orientation meetings, a demonstration on tips for changing flat tires, and an amazing buffet dinner!
It is early to bed tonight, getting up in time to load the luggage, eat breakfast at 6 am, and pump tires. We will then take the traditional group photo, and leave on our first day of riding!

Monday, Sept 24, 2012 Ride to the Canadian border
At 9 am Dave and I met with Nancy, Ann, Sheila, and Donna to ride up
to the Canadian Border. The route we took was 38 miles up and 28 miles
coming back. Guess it was a good warm up for our first day of 75 miles!

Saturday, Sept 22, 2012 The Adventure Begins!
We left Livingston, Montana at 6 am, and headed for Bellingham, WA. After 876 miles, we arrived at
5 pm. The books on CD from the library helped make the ride go quickly. Instead of bypassing the city of Seattle, we decided to go see the space needle. Bellingham is about an hour further north of Seattle.

Bad Route Road? Really??
Monday, September 17, 2012
Dave and I are driving from our home in Andover, MN to the ride start in Bellingham, Washington. We will leave Saturday, Sept. 22. This week I continue to pack, keeping my suitcase weight to the required total 50 lbs. I have a long 'to do' list before I leave, as well as a separate packing list. You would think I would be good at this by now!
