August 15, 2013 Aspen to Twin Lakes via Independence Pass

Today was the day that made many of us a bit nervous.  Independence Pass is our challenge day, and Michelle and Denise were very encouraging so we were all determined to do it!  Our route took us from
Aspen, up to Independence Pass and down to Twin Lakes.

August 14, 2013 Day off in Aspen

Today was our rest day, but one of the things we had an option to do was to go 10 miles up Snowmass here in Aspen and see Maroon Lake.  Almost everyone rode up in the van, and two brought their bikes and rode down after hiking.  It was a spectacular place, and most photos do not need any explanation!  There were picturesque scenes everywhere!

 

 Below are photos of the Annabelle Inn where we stayed for two nights.  Each of the rooms was very unique, and the managers were very accommodating.  It has been recently remodeled inside and out, and some of us took advantage of the hot tubs.
