Today rain was predicted (again!) but we were able to ride with just overcast skies and mild temperatures, and not too much wind! It seemed we were chasing the rain, riding on wet pavement, but no rain. I have been riding with a back fender which keeps the water off my back and out of the face of the rider behind me!

4-18-15 Bogalusa, LA to Wiggins, MS 61 miles
We must be getting used to the daily rain. Had to ask someone how far into the 61 miles we were riding in the rain ~ it was about 40 miles. It was a soaker! We did enter our next state, Mississippi. The entire South has been getting a lot of rain, but at least we did not have any lightning to keep us off the road. Mary carries Simon every day, and today he had a little rain coat to keep him dry. She says he likes to see where she goes. : )
Injuries are gradually improving, although my left shoulder is still sore and my right hand is somewhat swollen which makes riding tricky if I want to avoid jarring my shoulder. I know it may be some time before it is back to normal but aside of the new bruises that are appearing, healing has begun.

4-17-15 Hammond to Bogalusa, LA 55 miles
It was a good thing we only had 55 miles today. It gave me a break from the long miles to recover some from yesterday's crash. Fortunately my bike did not sustain any major damage. Part way into the ride almost everyone stopped to go into the Global Wildlife Center. We had a great time seeing the animals. Some went on a "private" tour and four of us took the regular tour, but we all had fun feeding the animals!
A few of the roads were rough, and I ended up slowing down and hanging on to my handle bars with my right hand to protect my left shoulder. Most of the roads were smooth, and I made it into Bogalusa.
