Lake Charles to Lafayette, Louisana (85 miles) Sunday, April 11, 2010

We rode today in the Mississippi Delta region.  We could tell because of all the water, flowing through the ditches, standing in the fields where they flood them for crayfish businesses, and all the houses that are build up on concrete blocks.

The route was nice.  The eight-five miles was winding back and forth, keeping us on the back roads.  We saw many areas where crayfish were being raised, as well as houses that were all very different from each other.  Until we got close to Lafayette, there were large homes with manicured yards next to trailers with cluttered yards.

We stopped at a town called Crowley for a lunch stop.  Since it was Sunday in the South, very little was open.  However, a place called Frosto's was open.  They had the most amazing menu, but no place inside to eat...a true drive/walk up establishment!  I had their shrimp burger, which was just a hamburger bun with lots of grilled shrimp, lettuce, and I could have eaten two!

Toward the last fifteen miles, our route became more urban.

Tomorrow we have an 86 mile ride into St. Francisville, LA.  It will be our day off on Tuesday.
