Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 Gualala to Bodega Bay, CA 49 miles 3078 ft of climb

It was a really foggy day today.  There was only a short time when it lifted, and that was mostly because we had move inland some.  Then it was back to the fog!  The day started with easier hills, but then returned to the usual hills.  There were a lot of hawk-like birds today, with beautiful wing spans and coloring.

There was about 4 miles of road construction today where they had scraped the blacktop off, ready for the new layer.  It was VERY difficult to ride on it, a constant vibration, rattling our bikes, stressing our knees, and slowing us down to 5 mph.  There was even a part of it that was down hill!  It finally ended, but guess that is just our luck!  It's impossible to predict day-to-day road conditions like that on the route.

  3. Today sounds a bit scary, what with fog, wet roads, hills, curves ... yikes!

Nice house at Bodega Bay! Great pics of you, too; love the last one.
