3/12/15 Salome to Wickenburg, AZ 56 miles

Salome to Wickenburg was an easy day.  The temp started out at 60, but quickly climbed to 80.  The sky was overcast much of the time, wind was light, and there were some climbs, but much of the time was 1-2% downhill.  Doesn't get much better than that!

3/11/15 Blythe, CA to Salome, AZ 64 miles

We had 2,000 feet of climb today with some head winds and a lot of long uphill grades.  We went on 30 miles of I-10 (it was the only way) but the shoulders were wide and smooth.  We did have to avoid many pieces of 18-wheeler tire shreds, but the rigs themselves often moved over whenever they could.  The big pieces of tire are easy to avoid, but those small pieces with the tiny wires are the ones that will blow bike tires!

Carol Wilder's Good Bye Song

Carol Wilder, long time ride leader with WomanTours, came on our Southern Tier 2015 tour along with Patty Jackson to transition two new ride leaders.  In Salome after dinner Carol sang a song written by her friend, Romaine Randal.

Below is a link to the YouTube video of it.  It is "private" which means that unless you are on the list you will not be able to see it.  I can add you to the list if you send me your email address in the comment section below.

3-10-15 Blythe ~ Day off ~ 0 miles

Today was a well-earned day off.  We are able to clean our bikes, do laundry, use the hot tub, or just hang out.  We explored Blythe some, and checked out places for lunch and dinner which are on our own for rest days.

3/09/15 Blythe to Brawley, CA 88 miles

I am in the lead in the "Flat Tire Race" now that I woke up to another flat tire.  The rear tire patch from the day before did not hold, and had to change it before heading out. Lea helped me and between us we managed to leave in a reasonable time.  Therese, our Sag of the day told me I was not allowed to have any more!
On this fourth day on the road our route took us 88 miles through the Imperial Sand Dunes, climbing big rollers, most of which was on a modified chip seal road surface.  We saw some spectacular scenery and had many examples of 18-wheelers who were very courteous to us!
The day ended with a sweet 20-mile finish to our day!
